Prayer for the City Glasgow Thursday 8th August 2013
2 Chronicles 7:14
14 if my people, who are called by my name,
will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked
ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal
their land.
We pray for the
city of Glasgow, that God moves in all His power and majesty, and the people
of Glasgow will humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways and that
we will see our city healed and restored.
We pray for the
community of Anderston, that God will continue to use The Salvation Army
in ministry and in reaching out to our community.
We pray for
protection for the corps (church) from the attacks of the evil one. We
claim the victory that is ours in Christ and that we will be bold in
our vision, and even bolder in our faith that God will provide.
We pray for souls
to be won for the kingdom, in the community of Anderston.
We pray for the
physical health of our fellowship, that God will send his healing power upon
us.
We pray for the
children we work with and minister to in our kids clubs, and in the
schools. We pray that this summer they
will be safe. We pray for parents of
these children during the summer, especially for the financial pressure they
will be under.
We pray for Sarah
as she works in Anderston Primary School as a chaplain. We pray that there are opportunities to
minister the gospel to the staff and pupils.
We pray for Matt and
for blessings on his work in the Lifehouses (Hostels), and that he is used to
lead people to Christ. We give thanks
for all the conversations about faith that Matt is having in these days, and
pray God’s spirit to be in those, and moving in powerful ways.
We pray for the
paper ministry each week. We pray that
the people we come into contact with will be impacted for the kingdom through
the reading of the paper, and that the conversations that we have will be
kingdom building.
We give thanks
for the new links we are establishing into our community, and influencing
people and decisions for the kingdom.
We pray for the
work with the homeless and vulnerable in Glasgow. We pray that God will
bless those who minister to the homeless. Grant them grace, mercy and
love, and give them a renewed strength and hope as they minister God’s love to
those that they meet. We thank God for the opportunities of ministry
between Glasgow City Centre Corps and the Salvation
Army Lifehouses (Hostels). We
pray that we will be open to the leading of the Spirit in being bold for the
Gospel. We pray that the church works
together to support those impacted by homelessness and gives them a voice to
speak out.
We pray for our
Christian brothers and sisters in Anderston Kelvingrove Parish Church. We pray for God’s protection on them in these
days in all that they are doing in the name of the gospel. We pray that God will continue to guide and
lead them in what He wants them to be doing in the community.
We pray for Matt
Oliver and the team at More Than Gold.
We pray for the plans and conversations they are engaged in to impact
the city of Glasgow for the gospel.
We pray
that Christians in Glasgow will be bold in their proclamation of the
gospel, and the name of Jesus. We pray that they will have a Holy courage
in not just showing their faith, but in speaking about it too.
Lord, there are many hurting people across our city
and the world. May you fill them with your love, show compassion, give
peace and bring comfort in their time of need.

Lord, thank you for taking the time to listen to
our prayers. Thank you for taking the time to answer them. We
pray that we will always seek your heart, and listen to your voice in our
prayers. Empower us by Your Spirit Lord, that we will pray without
ceasing. Protect us Father from becoming discouraged, and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil, because this is your kingdom, and
for your glory and honour. Amen.
