Urgent Prayer Required - 26.04.12 prayer topics

2 Chronicles 7:14

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Community

In our own community of Anderston, in the Glasgow City Centre area, there are a growing number of instances where there is not unity in our community.  There have been incidents of vandalism of property, and people feeling unsafe in their community.
This is a work of the prince of darkness.  We must pray against this.  We must pray God’s light into the darkness.

The local elections are nearly upon us.  The results of these will have a direct impact on our communities.  We pray that the local councillors who work tirelessly for our community and work hard for the greater good of the community will be voted back in.  We pray that those who are in it for their own sake, and for the greed of power will be shown that it is only the service of others that should be their primary goal, rather than self.
We pray for fairness in the local elections, and that God’s will be done, not mans.

We pray for the issues that impact our Community, the economic situation, the care of the elderly (which is still in the news), for our Schools, for the churches that aim to serve in mission the communities in which they are situated.  We pray God will be seen in each of those areas, and that He will raise up Christians who are passionate about making a difference where they are, in each of these areas.
Church Leaders

We continue to pray for church leaders this week.
We pray that they are encouraged in their Spirits, and are able to connect with the God who has called them to be where they are for such a time as this.

We pray that church leaders listen to God, and hear what He is saying to them.
We pray that church leaders act on what God tells them to do.

We pray that church leaders will work together for the good of the Kingdom.
We pray that God will protect church leaders from the attacks of the Devil, both spiritual and physical.

We pray for the health of our church leaders.
We pray for the families of our church leaders, that God will protect them and keep them safe.

Glasgow
We continue to pray for the City of Glasgow.  There is a lot happening in our City at the moment, and there are many changes taking place.

We pray for the local council elections.  We pray that God will have His hand on these.
We pray for the changing economic situation that is impacting on all areas of life in the city.

We pray for the issue of homelessness in Glasgow.  We pray that the church responds to this in the way that Jesus would.  We pray that we will reach out and be the hands of Jesus to those impacted by homelessness.  We pray for their safety and protection.
We pray for the preparations that are taking place for the 2014 Commenwealth Games.  We pray that the church will serve the city during this period.  We pray that we will seek to bring God’s love to the City and the visitors who will be in the City.

We pray boldly for the light and love of God to shine in the darkness.  We pray that people will come to know Jesus as their saviour and friend.  We pray for God’s Kingdom to reign in and over the City of Glasgow.
We pray that Glasgow will flourish by the preaching of the word, and the praising of His name.

Thy Kingdom Come
We pray that there is a real and tangible moving of the Spirit in our City.

We claim that God’s Kingdom will Come.
We pray that souls will be won for the Kingdom, and that we will rejoice with the angels as men and women, boys and girls turn to God as their saviour.

Time to get on our knees. Prayer Topics - 19.04.2012

2 Chronicles 7:14
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Debt & Wealth
The news every day has another story about debt and the economic situation.  The old adage of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer seems to be even more relevant today than ever.

The gap between the rich and the poor is ever widening.
We pray for those that are impacted by debt.  We pray that the church is able to respond positively in a non-judgemental way to help these people.

We pray for Christians who find themselves in debt.  We pray that the yoke that binds them will be lifted.
We pray for those who are impacted by greed, either in their desires to want the latest thing, or that they are victims of others greed.  We pray for their freedom from greed.

We pray that those who are wealthy will see God in their lives, and respond in sharing their wealth with those less fortunate.
We pray for the leaders of our country who have to make difficult decisions that impact on the finances of everyone in all walks of life.

Church Leaders
We continue to pray for church leaders this week.  Every day I realise more and more that our church leaders have a huge responsibility for leading Church’s in Glasgow.  It is so important that we surround them in prayer.

We pray that church leaders listen to God, and hear what He is saying to them.
We pray that church leaders act on what God tells them to do.

Prayer Points 12.04.2012

2 Chronicles 7:14

14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

The Elderly & Vulnerable

Last week we included for the first time The Elderly & Vulnerable.  Just yesterday (10th April), there was another report of an attack on a lady in her 80’s who was robbed in her own home in Glasgow.  Please pray extremely hard for this situation, that the growing number of attacks targeting the elderly and vulnerable will stop, and that they will know safety in their own homes.
We pray for the protection of those who are vulnerable and those who are elderly.

We pray for those elderly people who are lonely.  We pray that they will know the peace of God, and be embraced in His love for them.
We pray for the impact of the economic situation on the elderly.  As their often limited income has to stretch further each day, we pray that God meets their physical as well as spiritual needs.

We pray for those who care for vulnerable and elderly people, that they will be sustained and protected in their work, and that they feel valued in what they are doing.
We pray that the church embraces our elderly people and makes them feel part of the body of Christ, valued and loved for who they are.

We pray for the relationship between young people and elderly people, that is will be one of mutual respect and that each learns from the other.

Prayer please? 12th April 2012

Hi there,

It's been a few months since we started Paryer For The City Glasgow and it has been an exciting journey of listening to God, and seeing Him answer our prayers for our City and our community.

Each week we send out an email to ministers in Glasgow and others who are linked to our fellowship and we ask for prayer requests.  For whatever reason, we haven't really had many emails back.

The devil has had a real go at us about this.  Is what we're doing not worth it?  Should we just give up because no one is interested?  or is it worse than that, no one wants to pray??

We have had to fight hard against this, and really seek God and His direction.

He has protected us from getting sucked into beating ourselves up to the point that we just give up.  We have resolved even more that we are doing what God has called us to do, and that is to pray for our City, and to call Christians throughout the City and beyond to pray - together!

We've had some positive chats over the Easter period with some churches, and we hope that we can further develop these so that more and more of God's people are coming together to pray for Glasgow.

So what do we pray about then?  Well whatever God places on our hearts, and whatever we are asked to pray about.

We will keep posting the prayer points on this blog, going forward, we will post them on a Wednesday afternoon, and from time to time we will post any additional prayer requests.

If you'd like to get the prayer points on email, then just get in touch and we'll add you to the list.  And if you have anything you want us to pray for then please let us know.

If you are able to we have a prayer space in Anderston Kelvingrove Parish Curch, which is available on Thursday's at 12.30pm to 1.30pm.  If you can't join us, then please pray where you are during these times.

We will keep being obedient. We will keep fighting on our knees.  Will you join us?

Blessings,
Martyn Bellshaw
